A commitment that complies with regulations

My work is part of an artistic, ethical and regulated approach.

It is essential for me to comply with current legislation, to guarantee the traceability of the raw materials I use, and to preserve marine species.

Traceability of raw materials: an imperative

I have a direct contact with CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora), allowing me to consult regulatory information relating to the different species and ensure that i never use skins from protected species.

 

The fish whose skins i transform come from catches landed in Lorient; Following on from the work of fishermen and fishmongers, i maintain traceability through to the tanning stage, keeping records of their origin and species.

A commitment that complies with regulations

I am also registered with the Direction départementale de la protection des populations, in accordance with

  • the decree of 8 December 2011,

  • Regulation EC No 1069/2009 of the European Parliament.

 

This authorisation covers the activity of tanning category 3 animal by-products (article 10j), i.e. fish skins not intended for human consumption, in compliance with the health rules laid down by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries, Rural Affairs and Town and Country Planning.

These approaches reflect my desire to work in complete transparency, respecting the law, the living world and those who protect it on a daily basis.
